Concede, Dammit! Concede!

I don’t usually blog about politics, but this morning put me over the edge.

Like many people, I’ve been following the Democratic nomination process with great interest and I have strong opinions about who should be next in the White House. That all aside, the news this morning is that Obama has acquired the number of delegates needed to secure the Democratic nomination, and he IS going to be the Democratic nominee. Unless I’m missing something, this is the fact.

So this morning on the Today Show, Matt Lauer interviewed Clinton’s communications director Howard Wolffson. In his first question, Lauer held up a copy of today’s New York Times and said to the manager, “Is this an accurate or inaccurate headline?” The headline said “Obama Clinches Nomination.”

Wolffson responded, “Obama has run a great race, he brought millions together blah blah blah (something like that)”.

Lauer interrupted “IS IT ACCURATE OR INACCURATE, HOWARD?”

And Howard Woffson said “Hillary is going to consider her options and talk to her supporters and her friends….(and so on and so forth without answering the question.)”

THIS is the kind of vague response that turns people off. Why not just admit what the facts are? Do these politicians think they’re being really savvy and we don’t notice that they avoid giving straight answers? Such a simple question – just answer it please!
